In this project, the owner had bought an old village house to renovate it and give it a second life.
Hallway, corridors and staircase: We filled this space with color with a fantastic oriental display cabinet that recalls our client’s second home, brought directly from Shanghai. We created a second distributor, which gives access to the courtesy bathroom and the facilities room of the villa. We dressed this space functionally with a shoe bench in neutral tones. To give depth to the space, we opted for the sophisticated black of the wall.
The hydraulic floors chosen for the corridors are the main protagonists. The floral motif of the drawing gives us life and, together with the arches, an architectural and decorative element par excellence, we soften the steps by letting the light flow without barriers, improving the perception of space and the cohesion between the rooms. The staircase is the communication core of this three-storey house.
We covered all the steps with pieces made to measure by our marble mason, using the same material as the porcelain floor in the rest of the house. We replaced the railing with a new iron one, consisting of three horizontal bars and a round handrail, with a white finish that allows natural light from the skylight to pass through all the floors down to the ground floor.
Kitchen: We completely remodeled the old kitchen, achieving a functional and avant-garde space. We chose the color anthracite gray for the custom-made furniture. This color is combined with a white porcelain worktop with a gray vein, cut in large pieces to ensure the continuity of the pattern throughout the face.
We installed a LED under the high cabinet in the kitchen, which, in addition to being functional, improves aesthetics and makes the room cozier.
Suite: The master bedroom is where we spend most of our time, the relaxation area par excellence. The distribution of the furniture, as well as the colors and materials, can influence our rest. That is why it is very important to think about every detail of this room.
In this project, we created a drywall header that allowed us to pass through the fixtures. We also placed a decorative molding that highlights and beautifies it. The warmth of the wooden floor, a noble material par excellence, combined with the subtle elegance of the gray headboard, form the perfect tandem.
Dressing room: The house already had an intermediate room without a window, known colloquially as an alcove. We located the dressing room in this space, with a standard modulation of cabinets with a white finish to provide more light.
The indispensable mirror and a small design seat dress up this room without losing functionality.
Living room: The living room is the most social room in the house. The sophisticated herringbone laminate floor fills the atmosphere with warmth. We installed a wood-burning fireplace, for which we built a fireproof plasterboard drawer into which we built it. An essential element to enjoy the warmth on the coldest days of winter.
The result is a cozy living room that conveys comfort for sharing long talks between friends and family.
Bathrooms: For the covering of the bathrooms, we placed a fun mesh mosaic, widely used in decoration. The taps and accessories in black bring serenity to the space. We made a shower tray with the same large format porcelain floor as the rest of the bathroom.
The spectacular custom-made screen up to the ceiling separates the shower area from the rest of the bathroom, extending the view upwards and creating an optical effect of higher ceilings and a more airtight space. The wash basin chosen is a square countertop, installed off-center on a practical wooden shelf, leaving a free surface for soaps and decoration. The choice of a suspended WC allows a greater feeling of spaciousness in the bathroom.
Other items of interest: Switches and windows: We paid homage to the architecture with the iconic toggle switches of classic design, flush with the wall, which dress the space in a timeless and elegant way. We chose black for the color of the windows, bringing modernity to this old house.
As a peculiarity, we did not install blinds, thus achieving better thermal and acoustic insulation in the house and more glass surface, which translates into more light in the rooms.
